5 Types of Blinds You Should Consider to Make Your Home Look Amazing
Blinds are not only meant for privacy but also for improving the aesthetics of the room’s interior. So, you should choose your blinds carefully. There are several types of them to choose from and considering which one will suit your décor the most will definitely help your rooms look stunning. Here are a few main types of blinds you should consider.
1. Vertical Blinds
As the name suggests, vertical blinds are a series of vertical slats (usually made from a metal such as aluminum) that hang from a track. They can be rotated or pulled together to a side to regulate the amount of light entering the room. Vertical blinds are great for regulating light and privacy for a sliding glass door between backyard and kitchen or balcony or living room.
2. Venetian Blinds
The name Venetian blinds suggests that they are from Venice, but actually they are supposed to be from Persia. They came to Europe in the 18th century and soon became and still is the most popular type of window treatment among blinds Kingston and most other parts of the world. Venetian blinds are made of a series of 2” wide stacks connected by strips of fabrics or cords. Just like vertical blinds, venetian blinds can be adjusted by bringing them together or by rotating them by pulling the cords. Although they are made of various materials, wood is often the most popular material. Venetian blinds are best suited to narrow windows and are typically chosen for kitchens, bedrooms and home offices.
3. Mini Blinds
Although they are very similar to venetian blinds in function and form, mini blinds have thinner slats i.e. around 1” thick. Also, they are often made from a metal such as aluminum and thus are cheaper than standard venetian blinds. They are also easier to clean.
Micro blinds with slats just half an inch thick are also available.
4. Panel Track Blinds
Panel track blinds are made of cloth slats and are a cross between blinds and shades. Although they hang from a track, they can be moved independently of each other. Thus they can be moved to both sides or even can be split down in the center.
5. Smart Blinds
You may be surprised to know that just like smartphones and smart TVs, now smart blinds are also available. While the traditional blinds can be powered both by hands or electricity (by press of a button), smart blinds not only are automatically powered but also can be operated by an app or even by your voice, syncing up with Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa. You can even program them based on the time of the day, the amount of sunlight hitting them or motion detection. Of course, the technology has a much higher price tag than standard traditional blinds.
As you now know the different kinds of blinds, you can make a better decision as to which of them you should choose for your home. Choose the right window treatment and make your home look amazing.
